Most agencies don't identify capability gaps until it's too late
When a prosecution fails, scrutiny increases or or experienced investigators leave, gaps in investigation capability can quickly become visible. Comtrac and our trusted partner, ICETS, are working together to help regulatory agencies benchmark against Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS)

The standard
What is AGIS?
The Australian Government Investigations Standard (AGIS) sets the benchmark for how investigations should be conducted across government agencies, defining the practices, processes, and capabilities that separate a defensible investigation from one that falls apart under scrutiny.
AGIS is mandated for Commonwealth agencies as the baseline standard, and most state and territory bodies, regulators, and integrity agencies adopt it as their guiding reference. It remains the clearest national benchmark for what good investigation practice looks like.
Most agencies assume they’re meeting the standard. Few have tested that assumption against the actual clauses, and fewer still can point to evidence when a case is challenged or an inquiry asks how a decision was made.
Knowing where you sit against AGIS isn’t a compliance exercise, it’s the foundation for building investigation capability that holds up.
